In April 2006, Immigration and Custom Enforcement (“ICE”) announced a new, aggressive worksite enforcement strategy. While comprehensive immigration reform legislation has stalled, ICE has increased the number of raids and the number of employers who have been charged with allegedly breaking the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (IRCA).
On October 24, at 7am at the Knox Community Center, Michael Palmer of Barnes and Thornburg LLP will present a workshop on practical advice for employers on immigration compliance. During the workshop, Mr. Palmer will provide participants with a detailed, six-step plan for ensuring they comply with immigration laws and for limiting their exposure to liability.

Mr. Palmer graduated, with honors, from Loyola University-Chicago School of Law in 1997 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and government from the University of Notre Dame in 1994.
