There were no reported injuries yesterday morning when a Norfolk-Southern train struck a car, resulting in some $6500 at State Road 8 East crossing about 7 AM. The crossing was closed for several hours after the incident for repairs.
Starke United held its “Pacesetter” Breakfast yesterday with more than $30, 000 raised in pledges for this year’s campaign. Top pledges were from Starke United’s Golf Outing at $5, 433; Kersting’s Motorcycle Ride at $3,500; Knox Schools at $2, 641; Starke United Board and Staff at $2, 599; and $2, 500 from Starke Memorial Hospital.
Indiana lawmakers are poised to consider more rules for teenage drivers. Drivers could have more restrictions according to supports of legislation that would ban cell phones and require at least 50 hours of supervised driving practice before getting a driver’s license.
