September 19, 2008 Friday * Newsbriefs are courtesy of WKVI Radio and www.wkvi.com * There were no reported injuries yesterday morning when a Norfolk-Southern train struck a car, resulting in some $6500 at State Road 8 East crossing about 7 AM. The crossing was closed for several hours after the incident for repairs. Starke United held its “Pacesetter” Breakfast yesterday with more than $30, 000 raised in pledges for this year’s campaign. Top pledges were from Starke United’s Golf Outing at $5, 433; Kersting’s Motorcycle Ride at $3,500; Knox Schools at $2, 641; Starke United Board and Staff at $2, 599; and $2, 500 from Starke Memorial Hospital. Indiana lawmakers are poised to consider more rules for teenage drivers.
