As anticipated, the Starke County Board of Commissioners took action to officially reduce the number of weekly working hours for highway department employees following an executive session Monday evening. Effective next Monday, the employees of he highway department will observe a 35-hour work week, reduced from the standard 40-hour week. The board will also eliminate a current part-time position, effective October 1st.
Congratulations to the Marching Bluejays! After competing in the Kankakee Valley High School Invitational last Saturday, the “Jays” brought home “Music” and “Visual Achievement” awards; a “Gold Performance” Rating and, the highest score overall.
