September 10, 2008 Wednesday * Newsbriefs are courtesy of WKVI Radio and www.wkvi.com * The Pleasant View Rest Home will remain open until July 1st of 2009. The fate of the home has been a topic of discussion in Pulaski County for several weeks. This week the council voted 6-1 (with Ron Powers voting against) funding for the home through the first 6 months of next year. Pleasant View is one of only a handful of county home’s that is still in operation. Recently, the Starke County Board of Commissioners announced that funds budgeted in 2008 to control wild and stray dogs have already been totally exhausted with nearly 4 months remaining in the year. State Road 10, between Starke County Roads 600 East and 650 South in Bass Lake will be closed during the daylight hours Thursday for an underground culvert replacement.
