September 9, 2008 Tuesday * Newsbriefs are courtesy of WKVI Radio and www.wkvi.com * The North Judson-San Pierre Marching Bluejays competed at the Bomber Brigade Battle of the Bands Festival this past Saturday by earning a Gold Performance rating and a Visual Achievement Award. Their performance was the only Gold rating of the evening. Knox Illustrator Mitch Markovich, who is best known for his “Just ARound the Corner” series of South Shore Line posters, is currently completing a postcard series of the city of Whiting. The fifth postcard of a landmark building that houses a pizza business was unveiled recently. According to Whiting’s mayor, the series will be used as a fund-raiser for the city’s museum. The Hershey Company announced a voluntary recall of 7.25 ounce bottles of Hershey’s Chocolate Shell Topping because they contain undeclared almonds.
