August 25,2008 Friday * Newsbriefs are courtesy of www.wkvi.com and WKVI Radio * Starke County Clerk Evlyn Skronski reports that as of noon last Friday, the deadline for petitions to be submitted for candidates to be eligible to be included on the November election ballot for school board, has passed. There were 9 candidates seeking 5 positions in Starke County. Those filing include, the incumbents at Knox Community Schools, Harold Welter, Gary Dulin, Jerry Fletcher, and Richard Masson. Those seeking those four seats include Terry Turner, Wayne Landry, Kirk Bennett and Nathan Marcum. The Monterey Days Festival is this weekend, August 29th through September 1st. Some of the highlights include the Knights of Columbus Pancake and sausage breakfast on Saturday at Sunday beginning at 8 AM. Also, food and craft booths, the Monterey Days parade at 6 PM Saturday Night, the Antique Tractor Show Sunday from 9 AM to 2 PM and the Youth TAlent Show Sunday at 6:30 PM. * Newsbriefs are courtesy of www.wkvi.com and WKVI Radio *
