The Starke County Chamber of Commerce held its Quarterly Meeting at Grand Central Station Restaurant and Banquet Facility in North Judson on July 23rd. Anthony Manning, director of the CoC, opened the meeting telling the crowd that the Chamber has virtually doubled its membership to around 150. President of the CoC John Howard thanked those in attendance and took care of the first item on the agenda, breakfast.

Breakfast buffet was served by the Grand Central Staff with Bob Howard the owner on hand for the rare breakfast opening. As the forty-five on hand finished eating, Mike Meadows, CEO of the Starke Memorial Hospital was the Keynote speaker. SMH opened in 1952, and during Mr. Meadows tenure, the Hospital has been updated and upgraded with $6,000,000 invested. Upgrades include the MRI department with the "latest equipment in America", along with Ultra Sound and X-ray department upgrades...all of this to support the Starke and greater area community. Mike asks for the community to support the hospital and the new clinics adjacent to the hospital, in doing so, clients can save the gas money of keeping the latest diagnosis and medical treatment local.
Speaking to the crowd, featuring local business, was Donna DeRuntz. Her new department, a part of Starke County Development Foundation, is dedicated to "growing local business" the "spirit of entrepreneurship exists in the County" with around 550-600 business in the area fitting the profile. Portions of her program is to mentor small business leaders, supporting them, even informing them of what services are available locally to aid growing their biz. John Howard closed the Quarterly Meeting.
50% of all business can avail themselves of the "Starke County Center for Small Business" by calling the SC Development Foundation, and all of the Community can avail themselves of the additional and "New" services and technologies of the Starke Memorial Hospital its staff and the new clinics.
