Gerald E. Schwandt

Gerald E. Schwandt, 58, of Wanatah, formerly of Merrillville, Indiana and East Chicago, Indiana passed away at Porter Hospital in Valparaiso, Indiana Saturday, July 19, 2008.

Gerald retired from LTV Steel and was currently employed at Midwest Service Center in Hobart, Indiana. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Pauline Schwandt and brother, Ralph Schwandt. Gerald is survived by his wife of 40 years, Wendy Schwandt of Wanatah, IN; four children: Keith (Sarah) Schwandt of Knox, IN, Derrick (Evonne) Schwandt of Chesterton, IN, Penny (Alex) Tracy of Chesterton, IN, and Jeremy Schwandt of Hobart, IN; seven grandchildren: Killion, Caleb and Korban Schwandt, D.J. and Candace Schwandt, Kayla and Lexi Tracy; sister-in-law: Sharon Schwandt of Munster, IN; three nieces and one nephew: Susan, Sharon, Sandy, and Ralph.

It was Mr. Schwandt's wishes to be cremated. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2008 at Merrillville Christian Church, 7071 Broadway, Merrillville with Ken Smith officiating.
