Brandon Hughes

Brandon Kyle Hughes, 15, of Hanna, died Saturday, May 17, 2008, in La Porte County.

He was born Sept. 26, 1992, in Knox, to Maria Hughes.

He was a freshman at South Central High School. He served as an altar boy at Christ the King Catholic Church and at St. Josephat Ukrainian Catholic Church. He had also played baseball in the Hanna Little League, and was an accomplished drag racer, winning the 2006 junior championship at Bunker Hill.

He is survived by his mother, Maria Hughes; two brothers, Jason and Derek of Hanna; grandmother, Maria Hughes of Wanatah; and great-grandmother, Betty Minarik of San Pierre.

He was preceded in death by grandfather, Ernest Hughes and great-grandfather, Robert Minarik.

The funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Wanatah. Friends may call Wednesday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at White Post Cemetery, Medaryville. Wanatah Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
