Robert “Red” Griffith

HAMLET-Robert “Red” Griffith , 80, passed away April 7, 2008 in Columbus , IN.   Mr. Griffith was born March 29, 1928 in Gary , IN to Ward and Luella (Herbst) Griffith and lived most of his life in the Hamlet area.  In 1968 in Valparaiso , IN he was married to Mindy Beerwart, who survives.  Also surviving are: four sons, Danny Griffith of Minot, North Dakota, Dennis Griffith of Garrison, North Dakota, Fred Beerwart of Columbus, IN and Andrew Beerwart of Coralville, Iowa; two daughters, Susan Hardy of Knox and Holly Hebert of Louisiana; one brother, Don Griffith of Hamlet; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents.  Mr. Griffith was a former employee of Midwest Steel in Portage , IN and a U.S. Army veteran of WWII.
There will be no funeral service.  Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. CDT at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel.  Cremation will take place after visitation.
